When you insert a SIM card into your terminal, the response on the lock screen can help diagnose any signal issues. Here are steps to troubleshoot common signal problems:

Scenario 1: "No SIM Card - Emergency Calls Only" Message

  • Verify SIM Card Insertion: If the lock screen displays "No SIM card - Emergency calls only," first ensure that the SIM card is inserted correctly.

  • Restart the Terminal: After correctly inserting the SIM card, restart your terminal. Note that the SIM card slot on the Q2 model does not support hot-plugging (inserting the SIM card while the terminal is powered on).

Scenario 2: Blank or Forbidden Signal Icon

  • Check Signal Icon: If the lock screen shows a blank signal or a forbidden signal icon (as illustrated below), the issue may be related to network settings.

  • Adjust Network Settings:
    • Go to 'Settings' > 'More' > 'Cellular Networks'.
    • Select 'Preferred Network Type'.
    • Ensure the network type is correctly set according to your SIM card's capabilities and network provider requirements.
